Chaffee County Search and Rescue-North thanked

When someone’s saved your life, finding an adequate thank-you isn’t easy. Brandon Simmons found himself in just such a dilemma last January when he regained consciousness in the hospital after surviving a horrific fall on Mount Princeton. He owed his life to Chaffee County Search and Rescue-North, who launched a successful mission to save Simmons and his two hiking partners

Texan hikes out after 2-day search

Kishore Joshi, 46, Houston, Texas, the subject of weekend search efforts by Chaffee County Search and Rescue, returned to safety early Sunday evening, according to a Monday release from the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office.

Man and teenage daughter rescued from Mt Yale

A man hiking on Mount Yale with his sixteen-year-old daughter was assisted off the mountain by volunteers from the county’s search and rescue team during a nighttime mission Friday evening. Neither the man nor his young daughter was injured during the incident.

Backcountry Skier Critical, Airlifted by Flight for Life

On 05/10/14 at 1229 hrs the Chaffee County Communications Center received a distress signal from a personal, SPOT device. Communications center personnel immediately contacted the SPOT activation center and received GPS coordinates of the SPOT device as well as emergency contact information for the victim.
