Chaffee County Search and Rescue-North is a non-profit, all volunteer organization operating under the direction of the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office. Our mission is to provide search and rescue services, as well as outdoor safety education, at no cost to the public.
On July 30th at 1725 hours the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office received a call of an ATV accident on FS Road 295, which is in the St Elmo area. Deputies from the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office and Chaffee County EMS responded to the accident.
Chaffee County search and rescue teams and a helicopter rescued a hiker with severe injuries Thursday from above Browns Lake near Tabeguache Peak.
Summer weather and visitors are beginning to tax volunteer-staffed Chaffee County Search and Rescue-North, which has responded to three dozen missions this year.
On 06/27/17 at 2:27 pm the Chaffee County Communications Center was contacted in regards to a male who had fallen from a raft in Browns Canyon on the Arkansas River.
Chaffee County Search and Rescue North helped three people involved in medical emergencies Tuesday at the Zoom Flume rapid in Browns Canyon National Monument and Wednesday at Browns Lake.
