Chaffee County Search and Rescue-North undertook what it called in a Facebook post its “biggest mission of 2018” last weekend, a 17-hour overnight rescue of a hiker lost on Mount Princeton.
Private boater dies after capsizing raft
The Chaffee County Communications Center received a call June 4 about 3:11 p.m, about a raft that capsized in the vicinity of the Pine Creek Rapids approximately 13 miles north of Buena Vista.
Search and Rescue receives accreditation
Chaffee County Search and Rescue North completed the test for accreditation by the Mountain Rescue Association’s Rocky Mountain Chapter on Jan. 28 by performing a staged avalanche rescue.

Sheriff ‘very surprised’ to find hiker missing for 3 nights alive
A hiker who was reported missing after he failed to return from an attempt to summit Missouri Mountain Saturday has been found safe after spending three nights in the wilderness in sub-freezing temperatures.

On 10/08/17 at approximately 2am the Chaffee County Sheriff Communication Center received a call of a possible missing hiker on Mount Missouri, which is a fourteen thousand foot peak in northern Chaffee County
ATV Accident Near St. Elmo
On July 30th at 1725 hours the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office received a call of an ATV accident on FS Road 295, which is in the St Elmo area. Deputies from the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office and Chaffee County EMS responded to the accident.
SAR teams, chopper rescue hiker near Tabeguache
Chaffee County search and rescue teams and a helicopter rescued a hiker with severe injuries Thursday from above Browns Lake near Tabeguache Peak.

ARKANSAS RIVER RAFT ACCIDENT
On 06/27/17 at 2:27 pm the Chaffee County Communications Center was contacted in regards to a male who had fallen from a raft in Browns Canyon on the Arkansas River.
