  • How is this a free service to the public?
We rely solely on donations and grants to operate as a free resource to passionate outdoorsmen and women who find themselves in unfortunate situations. While our extraction, search, and rescue is free, some subjects and situations will receive a bill for services such as: helicopter rescue, ambulance transportation, and any medical bills accrued at the Emergency Room, hospital, or other treatment facility.
  • Can I join the team?
At this time we are at max capacity for our team both with active members and support crew. However, you are more than welcome to attend our monthly meetings to get an idea for our operations, the team dynamics, and of course, be the first to know when spots are opening up on the team. Please email us at info@chaffeecountysarnorth.org to get placed on our email list and to receive more information.
  • How many rescue calls does CCSAR-N respond to annually?
On average, we respond to ~60 calls annually. What's more is we provide assistance to other SAR teams around the state and when needed, support the Sherif's Department. You'll also see us at local races, parades, and events around the valley.
  • What qualifications do SAR team members have?
The CCSAR-N team has a compilation of Wilderness First Responders, EMT's, paramedics, CPR certified, and an experienced ER medical doctor on the team. We are also MRA certified and take immense pride in the team members dedication to continual education and training.
  • Is the CORSAR Card Insurance?
NO! We want to be clear that the CORSAR card is intended to support local Search and Rescue teams across the state by providing reimbursement for expenses incurred on incidents. This is not an insurance card, as our services are already free. However, please keep in mind that if you require or request any emergency vehicles, helicopter rescues, or hospitalization, you will be billed by those entities.
