PRESS RELEASE
For immediate release, Monday, March 16, 2015

A 30 year old Fairplay man was flown by helicopter from the scene of a dirt bike crash in the Four Mile Area Saturday evening. Andy Porter suffered several broken bones, including ribs, collar bone, and possibly his sternum, after crashing on Forest Service Road 376 near Spanish Mill.

Chaffee County Search and Rescue was summoned to assist in accessing the patient, as rescue efforts were severely hampered by the rugged terrain and deep mud. Eventually, through the use of four wheel drive vehicles and ATV’s, Chaffee County Emergency Medical Services, Colorado State Patrol, a Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office deputy, and members of Search and Rescue were able to locate Porter. A Flight for Life helicopter landed near the crash site and flew Porter to a trauma center in Denver.

The accident is being investigated by Colorado Parks and Wildlife with assistance from Colorado State Patrol.
