Climbing mountains, scaling cliffs in the dead of night, pulling kayakers from the raging waters of the Arkansas River – it’s all part of the job for Chaffee County Search and Rescue-North’s dedicated volunteers. Now, the community has a chance to give back to CCSAR-North, whose volunteers who spend countless unpaid hours helping backcountry travelers. CCSAR-North is hosting its first annual fundraiser this weekend. The event runs from 5-10 p.m. on Saturday, July 26 at the South Main Square Park. There will be barbecue, gear demonstrations, a dunk tank and throwbag toss competitions. There will also be live music from Fox Street Allstars at the South Main Beach. “South Main puts on great music, there will be great food and it supports a really great cause,” CCSAR-North treasurer Clinton Bellingar said. The event will help CCSAR-North raise money for a replacement vehicle and newer equipment.
